The very recently published “The Standard of Scarabaeoid Beetles in Japan” is the result of a collaborative work by eleven autheros and 63 further contributors.
This book provides comprehensive and new information on Japanese Scarabaeoidea (total 445 species).
The 97color plates show dorsal view of most species as well as lateral view of some species. The text is almost written in Japanese but the page i-viii contain descriptions of 2 new species and 3 new subspecies in English.
Also the pages of Cetoniinae and Trichinae contain the male genitalia photos with scientific name are useful for identification. In addition, an index to scientific names makes the book easy to use.
This book can be recommended to anybody who is interested in superfamily Scarabaeoidea.
